It has been just over a year since I started coming to physio. Today I went to a chapel service at my daughter’s school. In the past I could not sit on the low seats or stand up without help. I couldn’t walk up or down steps on my own or manage bumpy grass or paths.
This year I could stand and sit with ease each time it was necessary, and I was completely pain free. I could manage the steps without help and I am walking more smoothly, without such a pronounced and embarrassing limp. My life has changed so much in this year, and while there is still lots of change needed, it seems that this slowness is perhaps part of lasting transformation.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone at the practice for your warmth, support, expertise and kindness, and for the part you are playing in my recovery. I am so grateful for all that you do. Coming to physio is a highlight of my week.
“I have been going to Aqua Classes willingly for the past two years- which is surprising for me as I am usually exercise averse. These classes have changed my attitude so radically that I now get upset if I can’t make it! They have finally achieved what so many in my family have been struggling for years to do—make me an exercise (actually only an aqua-exercise) addict.
Not only do the classes make me fitter, and work areas of my body that need stretching, mobilsing and general upgrading but they are often a cathartic release of stress and a place where we can have a real laugh!”
“Aqua gives me a reason to jump out of bed in the morning. I love how it makes me able to face the rest of the day after 45 minutes cocooned in the warm water.”
“I have been attending aqua classes at this studio for close on three years. The classes are of a high standard and I always leave feeling so much better than when I came in. The camaraderie between the participants is always great and I recommend this practise to anyone who has back issues or cant bear the thought of a noisy gym.”
“My dear Aviva and sweet friend Sue!!! How do I love my bi-weekly aqua classes? Let me count the ways!! Gorgeous surroundings – especially now, after the wonderful makeover! Super smart and crazy energetic teachers, calming warm water, music music and more music – my very best, to sing and whistle to. And best of all friendship with a variety of wonderful people. What’s not to like, I ask you!!”
“In 2011, I came to this wonderful and nurturing practice for aqua physio hydrotherapy healing after a complicated back surgery that severely compromised my mobility. After many one-on-one private sessions, I was thankfully able to join the aqua classes where I continued to enjoy the well planned physical workout sets, comradery and the focused attention of the well trained, experienced, knowledgeable, highly skilled, patient and caring physiotherapists running the classes. From time to time I also benefited from the glorious, healing (and highly recommended) one-on-one WATSU sessions.
I am privileged to enter this pretty, calm and healing space three times a week, and the beautiful experience of physical and psychological joy, rejuvenating energy or calm healing that I feel in that warm water, is only enhanced by the especially awesome, carefully handpicked team of wonderful people who work at this practice – each one, warm and caring, efficient and professional, helpful and sensitive to all our needs.
From time to time, after various injuries and my subsequent shoulder and ankle surgeries, I have also benefited enormously from the excellent “on land” hands on physiotherapy in the rooms. It is comforting, reassuring and of course convenient, having access to all these wonderful healing therapies under one roof.
I am grateful to all involved who keep this practice consistently running as well as it does and I look forward to many more years of aquaphysio hours at 49 Kloof Rd!”
